Lincoln
Memorial Hospital held a flag-raising ceremony to honor individuals
in Logan, Mason and DeWitt counties who gave the gift of life, sight
and mobility through organ, eye and tissue donation.
The ceremony was held Wednesday, April 26, at the main entrance of
LMH. Families of organ donors were invited to bring a photo of their
loved one to display in the main lobby.
The Gift of Hope flag was raised by LMH employee Greg Morrow, whose
son was an organ donor.
According to Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network, which
serves Illinois and northwest Indiana, nearly 4,000 Illinoisans are
currently waiting for an organ transplant.

“April is National Donate Life
Month,” said Roxanne Stelle, chief nursing officer at Lincoln
Memorial Hospital. “This ceremony is intended not only to
recognize donors and their loved ones, but also to raise
awareness of the precious gift of organ, tissue and eye
donation.”
The event was hosted by Memorial Health, Gift of Hope, Eversight
and Saving Sight.
