The
award recognizes notable Heartland alumni who demonstrate
exceptional achievement in their profession and make a positive
impact on their community.
“The purpose of the award is to recognize an alumnus who is making a
difference in the community,” said Foundation Executive Director
Chris Downing. “We encourage co-workers, family members, friends and
professors to consider taking a few minutes to nominate a former
Heartland student who deserves to be honored.”
Last year’s award winner was Melissa Marx, Senior Director of
Operations for Outpatient Imaging Affiliates. A 2006 graduate of
Heartland, Marx has been active in the fight against breast cancer
and a passionate advocate for screening exams for women. She has
served on the boards for Professional Women of McLean County, McLean
County Chamber of Commerce, Heartland Community College Foundation,
and Heartland Community College Radiography.
