During a much-needed rain shower in Logan County, there
was no better way to spend the afternoon than inside the Exhibitor’s
Building at the Lincoln Stage watching the Logan County Fair Talent
Show. This year’s contest had a total of three entries.
|
The junior class is for children not over 14 years
of age and this class had two vocal entries.
The senior class is for ages over 14 years and under 22 years and
this year, there was one vocal entry.
The show started out with an adorable, but shy three-year-old girl
that had flared jeans and a patriotic vibe. After a few attempts,
she felt most comfortable standing on stage with the newly crowned
Logan County Queens standing by her side.
Charli Cherry from Mt. Pulaski stood proud and tall and belted out
Star Spangled Banner.
Liberty Cunningham age 11, and her sister Rayden Cordell age 8, from
Hartsburg/Emden, were dressed like Peter Pan and sang together the
song ‘Lost Boy’ by Ruth B. from the movie “Peter Pan.”
In the senior class singer Baylee Baker, decked out in a cute
sundress, is a recent graduate from Hartsburg/Emden and sang the
song ‘We Wouldn’t Be Us’ by Alexandra Kay.
After all the entries were performed, the three judges, Calob Pluhm,
Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch, and Audra Turley went into the meeting
room to calculate the winners based on a point system of costume,
audience appeal, stage presence, and ability with a possibility of
50 total points.

While the judges were tallying up the individual points, the three
newly crowned Queens entertained the audience with jokes and engaged
the crown to join in sharing their favorite sayings or jokes.
The winners of the talent show were:
Junior Class:
1st Place – Liberty Cunningham and Rayden Cordell
2nd Place – Charli Cherry
Senior Class:
1st Place – Baylee Baker

From the words of the coordinator, Darlene Begolka, everyone has a
talent, so why not show it off? So, Logan County, dust off your
dancing shoes, practice your poetry a little more or exercise your
vocal cords a little louder so that you can be prepared to show your
talent at next year's Logan County Fair Talent Show.
