To the editor: The people of
Logan County will be glad to know that there's good news from our
State Capitol. A new state budget will soon be signed by Governor
J.B. Pritzker and regardless of one's political orientation, the
budget blushes with the promise of a state on the rebound.
In our new state budget:
1. there is new money for child care and child welfare as well as
our schools and universities and colleges
2. child care and preschool will be available to every three and
four year old whose family wants these services - a remarkable
achievement
3. there is an additional $85 million for the prevention of
homelessness
4. grants are available that will make a community college education
available tuition free for every working class student in Illinois
5. there is additional funding for cities and villages

Since the election of J.B. Pritzker, Illinois's
credit rating has improved dramatically and for the first time in a
long time bills are being paid on time. Prompt payment of bills and
an improved credit rating mean savings for our state government
whenever it needs to borrow in order to provide a better future for
its citizens. That in itself is tangible evidence that Governor
Pritzker and the General Assembly have restored Illinois' fiscal
stability. Hats off to our state leaders for a job well done.
