Caryn Jayne Pluth was born March 8, 1957, in Lincoln, the daughter of Edward J. and Joan Pokorski Pluth. She was united in marriage to Don W. McLaughlin on November 27, 1976, in Lincoln.

Caryn is survived by her loving husband, Don; their two daughters: Sarah (Justin) Ramlow and Shanan (Nick) Hoffmann; and five grandchildren: Mia, Hunter, James, Samuel, and Jack.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Stephen Pluth.

Caryn was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and was a graduate of Lincoln Community High School. While her children were in school, she was an active member of the Lady Railer Booster Club and a room mother at Carroll Catholic School. She also was active in The Lincoln Junior Woman’s Club.

Caryn was employed as a secretary for her father’s business Pluth Tin Shop. She then continued employment for many years at Lincoln IGA where she was a friend to all who walked through the door. You could always find Caryn working on her scrapbooks and listening to her 60’s and 70’s music. She loved a good Bloody Mary and enjoyed cheering on her Cubbies. Her greatest joy in life was to watch her grandchild succeed in academics and sports. She could always be heard from across the gym rooting on all the kids at basketball and volleyball games.

Momma/Grandma Caryn was a mother to all. She loved all her kids, even if they were not her own. She was never afraid to put you in your place or be very honest with her opinions. She had the most outgoing personality and was very strong-willed. Caryn loved her family fiercely. They were her whole world.

For the last sixteen years Caryn had dealt with medical hardships. She fought long and hard to be strong for herself and her family. She will be terribly missed by her family and loved ones.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Susan G. Komen For the Cure (www.Komen.org).

Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln.
