Lincoln Daily News
welcomes letters of appreciation, information and
opinion on matters pertaining to the community.
Controversial issues:
As a
community we need to be able to talk openly about
matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get
your point across is to stick to the issue
and refrain from commenting on another person's
opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the
issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor: I would like
to announce my retirement from direct patient care, effective today,
February 1, 2023.
I have been privileged to care for the people of
Lincoln and Logan County for the past 31 years. During my 13 years
of private practice, from 1991 to 2004, and the subsequent 18 years
in the Emergency Department, I worked alongside intelligent,
committed primary care and emergency doctors.
I have been honored to work with dozens of fabulous nurses in my
office, the inpatient side of Lincoln Memorial Hospital, and in the
Emergency Department. They taught me to be a better doctor along the
way and we became lifelong friends.
Doctors could only do our jobs with hundreds of people working
behind the scenes supporting community medical care. This includes
the multitude of departments at LMH: laboratory, radiology,
respiratory therapy, dietary, physical therapy/rehab, materials
management, medical records, case management, surgery, and
(previously) OB.
[to top of second column in this letter] |
In addition to the hospital staff, multiple
community agencies have provided invaluable assistance throughout my
career.
I would like to personally thank the EMTs and
paramedics of LCPA, past and present, the E-911 staff, the Logan
County Health Department, Lincoln and Logan County firefighters, the
deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, and the officers
of the Lincoln Police Department. You made my job much easier!
I will be working remotely by computer for the next few years.
My husband, Rob, and I have loved living in
Lincoln and raising our two children here. We plan to continue to
enjoy small-town life in Lincoln.
We would like to thank you all for supporting us
in every way.
Susan Harmon, MD
