Central Illinois Artists Featured at August Exhibit at the Lincoln Arts Institute

[August 21, 2023]    The Lincoln Art Institute hosted an art exhibition and reception on Friday, August 11, 2023, in the Moses Pinkerton Gallery. The show featured the power of art and culture in our community. All of the artists exhibited were from Central Illinois and displayed a range of mediums, techniques, and styles.

Lincoln artist Randy Washam featured his vintage silk print “Top Banana” an illusionary vision that makes you think you can reach out and grab it.

Local artist Bob Dunovsky displayed his charcuterie- table top piece featuring bloodwood, wenge, walnut, and hard maple. The chevron pattern highlighted each wood perfectly coming together as a beautiful work of art.

Springfield artist Rita Bass created “The King” copper, glass, and aluminum mask. She was inspired to create this project after signing up for a mask making class through the University of Illinois. Although the class was ultimately cancelled, Rita has since created six masks.

Chris Tice and Jeff C Williams created their pieces at a live painting and jazz event where they let the music and the mood guide their strokes. They used a similar color palate of yellow, pink, and several bright colors to create two very different pieces from the same medium, acrylic.

Bev Noble especially enjoys working with resin and “pour-over” acrylics because it really makes the colors pop. The colors of yellow, brown, and green were reminiscent of one of her former paintings of sunflowers that sold during a show last year.

Other artists include Missy Block, Higher Starr, Charlie Rogucki, Laura Anderson, Deborah Splain, Stanley Bly, Aianna Zachary, Thom Whalen, and Santino Lamancusa.

This artwork will be on display and available for purchase during Balloons over 66 August 25-26.
