 The
store is owned by Jody Suey and named after Jody’s daughter Dali.
The Suey’s; Byron, Jody and Dali are from Decatur and have Dali
Bliss Boutique and Salon in that community. Jody explained recently
that she and Byron made the decision to come to Lincoln to open a
second business because they come to this community on a regular
basis. They enjoy the local coffee shops and also are shoppers at
the ReNew Consignment Shop on Sangamon Street. She said that Byron
enjoys touring through communities and looking at the architecture
of the businesses and homes.
There had come a day when the two had come to ReNew to pick up a
couch they had purchased. They were cruising around the downtown
area and saw the “for rent” sign on the window of the shop that was
once Sorrento’s Pizzeria before that business moved down the street.
Jody said they pulled in, looked at the exterior of the building,
then called the number on the sign. The owner was available to come
right away and show the building. Within a couple of weeks, the
Suey’s had a signed rental agreement and were making plans for the
second Dali Bliss.
On Saturday, emcee Nila Smith shared that during that
earlier conversation with Suey, Jody had commented that she and
Byron like Lincoln because it was a clean community that felt safe.
It was quiet and friendly and appealing to them in multiple ways.
Among those attending the ribbon cutting was Lincoln Mayor Tracy
Welch. When asked to speak he addressed the comments by Smith.
Welch commented that he had met the Suey’s for the first time at the
ribbon cutting. He had enjoyed the exchange, and also very much
enjoyed the sentiments that Jody had shared about the community and
the reasons for coming to Lincoln. He said that the community needs
new businesses, and he was happy that they were coming into the
heart of the city.
Another person on hand for the cut was Andrea Runge with the Lincoln
Economic Advancement and Development group. She shared that she had
spoken with the Suey’s about their expansion plan and was delighted
to see that they were getting established in the Lincoln Community.
Byron Suey was the next to speak, saying he was thankful for the
small town support the Suey’s in their efforts to come to Lincoln.
He said that they had been impressed with a town that “is taking
care of itself.” He said that supporting local businesses is so
important and he sees that in this community of people supporting
people.
Jody spoke thanking everyone for attending the ribbon cut and also
expressing appreciation for her staff that includes Lexie Lamothe
and Meghan Kenney who were both in attendance.
Others in attendance included Lincoln Fire Chief Bob Dunovsky, the
new 2023 Miss Logan County Fair Ellyn Martinez, and Karen Castelein
and Chassidy White with daughter Elizabeth from Lincoln Daily news.
It was noted that this is the first ribbon cutting for Queen Ellyn
since winning the queen competition at the Logan County Fair on
Tuesday, August 1st.
When all the speakers had concluded, Jody Suey and those behind the
ribbon posed for the group shot, then everyone helped with the
traditional count down and Jody then snipped the ribbon on the new
store.

Afterward everyone was invited inside for refreshments and to shop a
bit and get to know the Suey’s and the staff at Dali Bliss. It was
also noted that Queen Ellyn and Runge were both wearing clothing
purchased at Dali Bliss.
The new store according to Jody Suey is a mix of styles that appeal
to all ages of women. There is also a large variety of accessories
such as jewelry, belts, hats, and cosmetic and scent products.
Store hours at the new boutique are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed on Sunday and
Monday.
