Obituary
Joyce Fox, 95, of Normal, formerly of
Atlanta, passed away at home early on Friday, August
11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Services for Joyce will be held on Friday, August
18, 2023, at the Atlanta Christian Church in
Atlanta. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run
until the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Maurice
Stribling will officiate. Burial will follow at the
Atlanta Cemetery.
Marylin Joyce Miller was born January 1, 1928, the
daughter of Ralph E. and Cora A. Lower Miller.
Joyce is survived by her children: Connie (Wayne)
Turner, Pennie Daly, Don L. Fox, Susan Steiling,
Pamela (George) Thomas, Yvonne (Richard) Zban, Aaron
(Katie) Fox, and Tracie (William) Sterling; 23
grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; several
great-great-grandchildren; and three siblings: Melba
Scher, Russell Miller, and Carolyn Dane.
She was preceded in death by five siblings; four
children: Meredith Fox, Miller “Buddy” Fox, James
Fox, and David Fox; one grandson, Ronnie Coker, and
one great-grandson, Jacob Lee. |
Joyce had worked at Big Lots in
Harrison, Ohio, and for many years in the
hotel/motel industry where she wore many hats from
management to line-level roles.
She was a woman of many talents that
included dancing, singing, playing the piano and
drums, roller skating, and especially cooking. Her
family fondly remembers her as the “best cook” whose
meals were banquets and enjoyed watching her bake
bread and rolls. She was greatly loved and will be
greatly missed.
The family especially thanks Heather, Jessica, and
Kevin of Carle Hospice for their care and
compassion.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home of Atlanta.
