Obituary

Mardell L. Bottles, 66, of McLean, passed away at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

Mardell Lynn Ahlstrom was born September 29, 1956, the daughter of Leland “Pete” and Lois Lindgren Ahlstrom. She was united in marriage to Kevin Bottles on November 14, 1987. He survives.

Mardell is also survived by three children: Dustin (Barbie) Bottles, Justin Bottles, and Jessica MacKay; ten grandchildren: Jaicee, Austin, Madison, Ashton, Aubrey, Bailey, Taylor, Avery, Anthony, and Ayden; one brother: Howard (Alka) Ahlstrom; cousins; and special friends/extended family, Alta (Chris) Dowdel and Lisa (Tim) McGhee.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael; her parents: Pete and Lois Lindgren; stepmother Loretta Ahlstrom; and one grandson Brayden.

Mardell was a 1974 graduate of Olympia High School and worked for Gateway Truck & Refrigeration in McLean. She loved her work in parts and service, so much she could recite fertilizer truck plans and parts numbers anytime.

 

Funeral Director

As a pillar in the McLean community, she was an avid volunteer, active with the Mt. Hope Twp. Community Hall and the museum. She had an amazing giving heart, never knew a stranger, and greeted those in need with wide open arms. With an eye for design and a determination to put it to use, she loved planning events like weddings and community events – everything to create special memories for all to cherish. Her love, laughter and presence will be greatly missed by many.

Services to be announced coinciding around Christmas in the Village, McLean, Illinois. Information to be posted on the Mt. Hope Twp Community Hall Facebook page. Cremation Rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Wenona, Illinois, at later date.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Hope Twp. Community Hall in care of Mt. Hope Township, Jaime Cook, 1866 E 200 N Road, McLean, IL 61754.
