Top 25 roundup: No. 15 Creighton takes down Oklahoma State

[December 01, 2023]  Baylor Scheierman had 21 points and eight rebounds and Trey Alexander recorded 20 points and seven rebounds to help No. 15 Creighton notch a 79-65 victory over Oklahoma State on Thursday night in the Big East-Big 12 Battle in Stillwater, Okla.

Steven Ashworth added 17 points and Ryan Kalkbrenner had 16 points and 12 rebounds as the Bluejays (6-1) bounced back from a 69-48 whipping from Colorado State on Nov. 23.

The victory was Creighton's first in Stillwater since 1943. The school had dropped its past five visits.

Javon Small scored 24 points and Eric Dailey Jr. added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Oklahoma State (3-4).

No. 13 Florida Atlantic 83, Liberty 58

Alijah Martin scored 20 points and Vladislav Goldin added 18 as the Owls earned an easy victory, while handing the visiting Flames their first loss of the season, in the Field of 68 Classic at Boca Raton, Fla.

Bryan Greenlee scored 12 points for Florida Atlantic (6-1), which was never threatened while winning its first game since taking the title at the ESPN Events Invitational in Kissimmee, Fla. It was also the Owls' first game on its home court since a 61-53 loss to Bryant on Nov. 18. Florida Atlantic's second-leading scorer, Johnell Davis, who entered with 13.8 points per game, scored just two points while shooting 0 of 7 from the field.

Colin Porter scored 16 points and Kaden Metheny added 10 for Liberty (6-1), which finally met its match after reeling off six consecutive victories to start the season. The Flames had 13 offensive rebounds to 12 for the Owls, but otherwise were outclassed in most other categories.

No. 16 Texas 77, Texas State 58

Max Abmas poured in a season-high 26 points and keyed the game-winning run in the middle of the second half as the Longhorns turned it on late for a win over the visiting Bobcats in Austin, Texas.

Ithiel Horton added 12 points for Texas (6-1) while Dillon Mitchell and Kadin Shedrick each scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Tyrese Hunter also had 11 points.

Dylan Dawson led the Bobcats (3-5) with 15 points. Brandon Love had 14 and Jordan Mason scored 10 for Texas State.
 
 No. 25 Oklahoma 107, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 86
 
 Otega Oweh scored a team-high 20 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the field to help lead the Sooners to a rout of the Golden Lions in Norman, Okla.
 
 Jalon Moore added 19 for the Sooners (7-0), who played at McCasland Field House -- Oklahoma's volleyball arena -- in a "student-only" game. John Hugley IV poured in 15 points and added 10 rebounds for Oklahoma, which connected on 40 of its 70 field-goal attempts (57.1 percent) and 13 of its 30 3-point tries (43.3 percent). Javian McCollum scored 15 and Le'Tre Darthard put up 14 points.

 Kylen Milton led Arkansas-Pine Bluff (4-5) with 24 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the floor. Rashad Williams added 20 points for the Golden Lions. Joe French scored 14 points and Lonnell Martin Jr. had 13. Arkansas-Pine Bluff shot 43.1 percent (28 of 65) from the field and 8 of 23 (34.8 percent) from 3-point range.
