Community Action Subaru Share the Love event seeks food donations for Blizzard Bags

[November 15, 2023]     In celebration of the 2023 Subaru Share the Love® Event, Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois will be hosting its annual Blizzard Bag Donation Event to provide shelf-stable food items to seniors in Mason and Logan Counties. Green Subaru of Springfield will be donating all of the bottled water.

We are requesting specific items for our bags as they must meet our nutritional requirements. We accept low sodium canned vegetables, no sugar added fruit, fruit and grain cereal bars, 100 % juice boxes, cheese crackers with cheddar cheese or peanut butter, low sugar instant oatmeal packets, and low sodium cans of soup.

As part of a national partnership with Meals on Wheels America, Subaru of America, Inc. and its retailers will donate to charities like Meals on Wheels, for every new vehicle leased or sold from November 16, 2023, to January 2, 2024.

Since the Subaru Share the Love Event began in 2008, Subaru and its participating retailers have donated more than 4.3 million meals and helped provide friendly visits to seniors being served by local Meals on Wheels programs across the country. In Lincoln items may be dropped off at the CAPCIL corporate office at 1800 Fifth Street.

In Mason County, items can be donated at the CAPCIL Mason County office, 301 S. Dale Drive in Havana.

Collections dates will be November 16th through December 13th.
