Outside, there were train rides for children around
the church parking lot. In addition, friends and families could take
a carriage ride around Latham Park. The long lines of people showed
that the carriage rides were very popular.
A group of carolers led by Lincoln Christian Church
worship minister Laurin Hill sang Christmas carols just outside the
doors to help people get in the Christmas spirit.
To help keep people warm in the cold weather, Brew 66 was selling
hot drinks.
Inside, the church was decorated with Christmas
trees, a banner with a nativity scene and other holiday décor. At
Santa’s workshop and craft area, children could make a variety of
holiday crafts like a foam mug, gingerbread man or Christmas tree.
These could be decorated with stickers or cotton. Children could
also make a necklace [or perhaps a small garland] by putting cereal
on a string.

Trays full of delicious cookies and hot chocolate
provided a nice treat for everyone including Abraham and Mary Todd
Lincoln.
In the Fireside room by a Christmas tree surrounded
by presents and a blow up snowman sat Santa. Many families were
lined up so their children could get a photo taken with Santa and
tell him what they want Christmas.
This year was the second time Lincoln Christian held
the event. LCC minister Ron Otto said, “we are excited to provide
hometown Christmas to Lincoln. It is a gift to the people. We love
being part of this community.
Those who were at the hometown Christmas event seemed to enjoy the
various activities offered.
