The Lady Railers hosted the Jacksonville Lady Crimson on Saturday afternoon and with Kloe Froebe pouring in 28 points in the first quarter, Lincoln simply demolished the visitors by a final score of 85-18.

This time Froebe outscored her opponent within the first eight minutes of the game. Her and her teammates were unstoppable in the first quarter and when the bench players entered the game, things really did not change all that much. The defense was stellar and the offense was on fire for Lincoln from the tip-off.

First Quarter

The Lady Crimson stat line was ugly in the first quarter thanks to some really tenacious defense by Lincoln. The press was just killing the Lady Crimson. The score was 27-0 before Jacksonville even got a shot off at their end of the court.

When the Lady Crimson finally scored a basket near the three-minute mark, it was their only basket of the quarter and the rest of their stat line consisted of approximately nine turnovers and four fouls.

Lincoln on the other hand had at least eight steals, with Froebe getting credit for most of them. Lincoln’s 27-0 run to start the game began when seconds into the action, Tori Geriets scored in the lane, with Becca Heitzig on the assist. Kloe Froebe dumped in the next bucket after a Jacksonville turnover. Then following a backcourt violation by the Lady Crimson, Taryn Stoltzenburg hit a three to make the score 7-0.

Jacksonville called their first timeout of the quarter here. When play resumed, Froebe assisted Heitzig with the next two Lady Railers points. Then it was Froebe herself hitting a three and the lead was 12-0. Another steal by Froebe led to another basket by Geriets and the score was quickly 14-0.

After a ten-second violation on the Lady Crimson, with the ball back in the hands of the Lady Railers, it would be Froebe hitting a baseline shot for two points and the 16-0 lead. With turnovers and steals abundant, Froebe poured in two more baskets and Heitzig added one more to push the lead to 22-0 and another timeout was called by Jacksonville. Froebe emerged from the huddle and quickly drained a three, following a steal, of course. This made the score 25-0. After another steal, Froebe tossed in two more points and the 27-0 run would be complete in about five minutes.

Zara Harper would be the only Jacksonville player to get a shot to fall in the first quarter, although the shot attempts were very minimal. The 27-2 score didn’t last long with the Lady Railers playing like their shorts were on fire. With Heitzig, Froebe and Stoltzenburg scoring, the lead was a solid 36-2 when Makinley Knapp entered the game. Froebe had 20 points at this point, but she wasn’t missing so she wasn’t about to stop shooting. She hit a three to stretch the lead to 39-2. Froebe would toss in two more buckets and get fouled on the last one to send herself to the free throw line.

After Froebe sank the ‘and one’ the score was 44-2 and she took a seat on the bench. She had scored 28 points already and deserved a rest. Knapp actually put up the last basket in the quarter and it was pretty awesome. On the inbounds play under the basket, a leaping Knapp did a quick catch and tip, sending the ball through the basket as the buzzer sounded. Lincoln’s lead was an astounding 46-2 after eight minutes of basketball that went so fast that even the WLCN announcers were hustling to stay on top of the action.

Second Quarter

No starters for Lincoln played in the second quarter. Knapp led the team with six points here and Mia Clark hit a three early on. With Ceana Adams scoring a point on a free throw and Grace Schneider getting the last bucket to eventually fall through the net, the score was 58-5 at the half.

Third Quarter

The starters did return to limited action in the third quarter and the team focused on getting starter Jenna Bowman in the scoring column. Bowman delivered with two threes in the quarter. Piper Whiteman and Stoltzenburg also delivered threes for Lincoln. Heitzig, Clark and Knapp took care of the rest of the scoring in the third quarter and with the game really moving at a fast pace, the Lincoln lead was now 76-14.

Fourth Quarter

Another running clock is the headline of the fourth quarter. With the bench players in, it would be Clark and McCloud leading the scoring. Clark poured in six more points and McCloud tossed in a free throw and a layup to end the game. The final score was 85-18.

Kloe Froebe led the team with 28 points.

Mia Clark scored 11 points off the bench and Makinley Knapp scored 10 points off the bench.
