With the beautiful weather Saturday, December 9, many
families ventured out to enjoy good food and visit Santa Claus in
Hartsburg.
Inside the Hartsburg Legion Hall, Hartsburg Mayor
Norma Bathe and others who are part of the Hartsburg Founder’s Day
committee served a pancake and sausage breakfast.
Bathe said the breakfast was a fundraiser for the Hartsburg
Founder’s Day, which celebrates the founding of the town. People
were visiting with friends and eating a delicious breakfast. They
could also purchase a package of sausage to take home for later for
just four dollars.
Tables were set up with bake sale items such as a
variety of cookies, peanut brittle, cinnamon rolls, banana bread,
pumpkin bread and Chex mix. Some were buying these items to take
them to upcoming holiday events.
In front of a fireplace photo sat Santa and Mrs.
Claus ready to greet the children and see what they wanted for
Christmas. After children sat on Santa’s lap, they could pick out a
stuffed animal from Santa’s bag of gifts and get a chocolate bar.
Both the children and their parents posed with Santa for photos.
In addition, Ability Sports of Havana provided a nice
donation of Bomba socks for anyone to take with them as a special
gift.
