Oilers blast Blackhawks to push streak to 8 wins

The Edmonton Oilers extended their winning streak to eight games
with a 4-1 victory over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
After Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard opened the scoring, the Oilers
responded with four unanswered goals as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Sam Gagner,
Leon Draisaitl, and Zach Hyman all found the back of the net.

Edmonton defenseman Evan Bouchard extended his
point streak to 12 games with two assists, and captain Connor
McDavid stretched his streak to 10 games with a pair of helpers.
Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner made 22 saves for his seventh
straight win.
Petr Mrazek stopped 25 shots for Chicago, which saw its road
losing streak stretch to seven games.
The Oilers led 2-1 after one period, despite being outshot 14-8.
Bedard opened the scoring, snapping a shot glove side past
Skinner at 3:21. It was his 12th goal of the season, snapping
his five-game goalless drought and extending his road point
streak to 10 games.
Nugent-Hopkins tied the game 1-1 at 9:58 of the opening period,
taking a feed from McDavid and beating Mrazek high blocker side
for his sixth of the season.
Edmonton took its first lead with 1:41 remaining in the opening
frame. Gagner one-timed Derek Ryan's feed high glove side past
Mrazek for his fourth of the season.
Draisaitl gave the Oilers a 3-1 lead at 13:22 of the second
period when his pass attempt redirected off the stick of
Blackhawks defenseman Nikita Zaitsev and past Mrazek. It was his
12th goal of the season.
Hyman made it 4-1 on a power play 43 seconds into the third
period, redirecting McDavid's feed past Mrazek for his
team-leading 16th score.
Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones missed his first game with an
upper-body injury suffered Sunday in a loss to the Washington
Capitals.
Chicago blue-liner Filip Roos, recalled from the AHL's Rockford
IceHogs on Monday, made his season debut on Tuesday.
