[December 13, 2023]     As the holiday season approaches, the students of the Land of Lincoln CEO are bringing a touch of sweetness to the community with their decorated and festive candy cane reindeer, named “Candy CaneDeer.”

This entrepreneurial class is not only spreading holiday cheer but also gaining valuable business experience.

The candy canes, crafted by the high school students, are a part of the CEO class’s curriculum of executing a class business. The students learn valuable business skills in communication, marketing, finances, and management during this process. The money earned from selling the Candy CaneDeer will be the startup capital for the students’ personal businesses, which will be completed in the Spring.

The class has been hard at work crafting the candy canes. During this class, the students have visited local businesses to learn about their practices and how they can incorporate them into their group business. Last Friday, they walked around the square pitching their product to businesses and raising capital.

“Creating the business of Candy CaneDeer with my classmates has taught me a lot about the business world,” says Olympia High School senior, Amy Dederich. “I feel connected with the Logan County community by bringing holiday joy with the candy canes!”

Land of Lincoln CEO invites you to join in the sweet celebration. Whether you're looking for a holiday treat, a festive gift, or simply want to support local entrepreneurship students, these handcrafted candy canes will surely add a touch of sweetness to your holidays.
