To the editor: April marks
National Community College Month.
Heartland Community College (HCC) in Lincoln has provided
educational and lifelong learning opportunities to the Logan County
community for over 30 years and has a dedicated staff committed to
providing services and support through the college’s Hometown Hawks
program. HCC Lincoln allows students to live local and learn local.
At our Heartland Lincoln Center, you can meet with an advisor to
discuss academic planning and career goals while connecting with
success resources to build a strong foundation. You can be
personally connected to staff members in financial aid, tutoring and
counseling services through our Campus Connections program.
Additionally, our CNA program provides instruction and hands-on
learning experiences preparing you for the workforce in only 16
weeks, and free in-person and online classes provide preparation for
those wishing to take the high school equivalency exam.

There are many ways one can benefit from community
colleges – affordable higher education opportunities, small class
sizes, personalized attention, involvement opportunities and
personal enrichment opportunities, to name a few. During Community
College Month we take this time to raise awareness of HCC Lincoln’s
vision to provide programs for those in and around Logan County
which lead to lifelong learning and success and to show appreciation
for the community that supports us in this endeavor.
We encourage you to take time to with others the ways you may have
been positively impacted by a community college.
