Mount Pulaski defeats Heyworth 43-38

The Mount Pulaski Lady Toppers defeated the Heyworth Hornets 43-38 on Wednesday night at home.

Heyworth took an 8-0 lead to start the game but with Addison Brown hitting a three and Kamrie Charron and Audrey Cooper sinking shots, the Lady Toppers fought back to trail 10-8 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Toppers defense held the Hornets to one basket in the second quarter. After Alyson Murphy’s three and four points scored by Kenzi Chandler, Mount Pulaski held a 16-12 advantage at the half.

Mount Pulaski’s 20-point third quarter really stung the Hornets. Brown and Murphy tossed in threes while Chandler, Cooper and Abigail Jones each scored, allowing the Lady Toppers to take a 36-26 lead.

The Lady Toppers held off a late surge by the Hornets and won by a final score of 43-38.

Mount Pulaski was led in scoring by Alyson Murphy with 14 points.

Kenzi Chandler had 10 points for Mount Pulaski.

The Mount Pulaski Varsity team is 7-4 on the season.

The Mount Pulaski JV team won 27-21 over Heyworth. Kelsey Beggs led the Lady Toppers with 8 points.

The Mount Pulaski JV team is 7-0 on the season.
