Ella Martin becomes the all-time leading scorer at MPGS

[December 17, 2023]    Ella Martin, a seventh grade student-athlete at Mount Pulaski Grade School, set the schools all-time scoring record during the recent junior high basketball season. Martin broke the previous scoring record of 1,341 points back on November 21, 2023. Skylar Hayes had held that record since 2014.

After the season ended with the Honeybears earning a third place finish at the IESA 7th Grade Class 2A State Tournament, Martin is the all-time leader with 1,458 points and counting. She also set the single season record this year with 965 points scored.

On December 13, 2023 Skylar Hayes was on hand at the Lady Toppers basketball game to present Martin with a special game ball and to offer her sincere congratulations.

Hayes also holds the Mount Pulaski High School record for most points scored in basketball with 2,317 points. No doubt Martin will have her eye on that record in a couple years.

The 2023 Honeybears were also introduced at the game along with the coaching staff.

The 7th grade Honeybears finished the season with a 21-7 record.

The 8th grade Honeybears finished the season with a 20-5 record.
