Obituary
Dorothea Eileen Schmidt, 102, of
Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at
the Woods Garden Villa in Lincoln.
Dorothea was born October 22, 1921, in Richland
County, Olney, the daughter of Wilmer and Emma (Sparling)
Birk. She married Paul Schmidt on December 30, 1941,
in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death in
October of 1999.
Dorothea is survived by her daughter, Paula Rojean
(Rich) Logan; two grandchildren, Lee Ann (David)
Smith and Lynn Logan; and two great-grandchildren,
Zachary and Abby Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
step-mother, Jessie Birk; and husband, Paul;
brothers, Wilmer R. Birk, William “Bud” Sparling,
and Bernard Birk. |
Dorothea was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Ruth’s Circle,
and Eastern Star.
Services for Dorthea will be held at
11 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Visitation will take place one hour prior from 10
a.m. to 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial
will follow at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.
Memorials may be made in Dorothea’s name to the
First United Methodist Church or the Humane Society
of Logan County.
