[December 15, 2023]  New Year’s Eve is approaching and with that comes celebrating! Many enjoy ringing in the New Year to a glass of wine. New Year’s celebrations do not have to involve alcohol, however. The following article will give many ideas how to have a fun New Years Eve alcohol free.

Plan a game night. Grab a bunch of family and/or friends, including the kids, and have a fun game night! Have fun snacks, prepare a Charcuterie board, and other finger foods. Parents and children can play games together or adults can play games while the kids are playing amongst themselves.

Mocktail ideas. A mocktail is a nonalcoholic drink made of a mixture of fruit juices and other soft drinks, ice, sparkling water, sometimes garnish, etc. and is usually served in a pretty cocktail glass. There are endless recipes on the internet to explore and try.

Host a party. Dress it up! Make it fancy, black tie, or keep it casual and laid back! This is totally up to you. When you are the host, you control the menu including drinks and keep it alcohol free.

Visit a coffee shop. Alone or with a friend, stop in at a coffee shop. Most have cozy areas where you can sit with a good book and have a delicious coffee.

Hold a chili cookoff. Most New Year’s Eves are chilly, so what better weather to have a chili cookoff! Invite contestants, pick some judges, and have a fun prize for the winner! This can always be incorporated into game night as well. After the judging and eating is done, start game night!

Plan a fun date night. Grab another couple and go out for an evening of fun alcohol free. This can include going to see a movie at your local theater, trying your best at an Escape Room, test your artistic skills at a paint night event, or even Axe throwing! The ideas are endless.

Other options are to check in to your local churches and see if there are any New Year’s Eve celebrations going on. Local alcohol-free support groups also tend to have potlucks that are open for everyone, which is also a great option.
Plan an evening of fellowship. Grab some friends and/or family from church, get together at your house or theirs, and dedicate some time to fellowship, perhaps some worship, and have a Bible study.

Enjoy an evening in. Order a pizza from your favorite pizza place, snuggle up on the couch, watch a movie before watching the ball drop on tv. Nothing beats the comfort of home, pizza, buttery popcorn and the safety of home.

Whatever you choose to do, there are many ways to have an alcohol-free evening on New Years Eve. Have a safe and joyous New Year!
