The
Lady Railers defeated the Peoria Manual Lady Rams 68-20 on Wednesday
morning in the 2023 Manual Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament in
Peoria.
Kloe Froebe led Lincoln with 30 points and Mia Clark added 11
points.
First Quarter
After an extended break for the holidays, the Lady Railers needed a
few minutes to warm up on Wednesday morning versus the Lady Rams of
Peoria Manual. With the score tied 2-2 after the first two minutes
of play, it would be Kloe Froebe finding her shot from the
three-point range and guiding Lincoln to an 8-4 lead. The Lady Rams
did make it an 8-7 ballgame with under five minutes left in the
quarter, but Froebe and the Lady Railers were finally awake and
ready to move at full speed, with a much needed boost from sophomore
Mia Clark. Clark entered the game halfway through the first quarter
and she didn’t hesitate to make noise for Lincoln. After a couple
quick free throws to stretch the lead to 10-7, Clark tossed in a
three that caused Peoria Manual to call a timeout with the score
13-7.
It appeared that during the timeout the Lady Rams failed to discuss
any strategy against Clark, as the sophomore was left unattended
under the basket not once but twice and she was able to score both
times on the assist from Froebe, steam rolling the lead to 17-7.
After another steal by Froebe that she took to the basket herself,
Lincoln was up 19-7 and the Lady Rams were clearing caving under the
pressure of Lincoln’s defense. Clark and Froebe continued to pour in
the points in the first quarter and with the Lady Rams only able to
toss in a free throw during this scoring rampage, the score was soon
28-8. With just a few seconds remaining, Heitzig dumped in her first
basket of the game just ahead of the buzzer and the Lincoln lead was
30-8.
Froebe poured in 17 first quarter points, while Clark scored all of
her 11 points in just less than five minutes.

Second Quarter
Froebe would toss in six more points in the second quarter and with
scoring from Jenna Bowman, Piper Whiteman, Tori Geriets and Heitzig
the Lincoln lead grew to 48-11 at the half. The math is correct:
Peoria Manual only scored three points in the second quarter. But
they do worse, just follow along for the next quarter.
Third Quarter
Taryn Stoltzenburg outscored the Lady Rams in the third quarter with
her basket, a three. Froebe finished the game with seven more points
in the third quarter and with Heitzig and Whiteman also contributing
two points each, the Lincoln lead just escalated. The score was
62-13 when these eight minutes ended. The math is right again:
Peoria Manual only scored two points in the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
A running clock in the fourth quarter was just enough time for
Makinley Knapp to pour in six points. Lincoln makes it look
effortless at 9:45 a.m. with a 68-20 victory over Peoria Manual.
The Lady Railers improved to 14-0 with the win over Peoria Manual.
