Ronald Paul “Ron” Harrelson

[February 06, 2023]  LATHAM - Ronald Paul “Ron” Harrelson, 79, of Latham, formerly of both Decatur and Peoria, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Liberty Village in Clinton.

Service:  Services  will take place at a later date in Benton, where he will be laid to rest next to his family.

Ronald Paul “Ron” Harrelson, 79, of Latham, formerly of both Decatur and Peoria, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Liberty Village in Clinton.

Ron was born on July 15, 1943, in Peoria, the son of Paul Walston and Ida Mae (Beattie) Harrelson.

He is survived by his son, Scott (Cynthia) Harrelson of Latham, and his sister, Sue Tyler of Imperial, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron worked for Caterpillar for 38 years serving in various leadership roles where he traveled the world extensively to different plant locations. He served as the International President of S.M.E. (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) where he built many professional relationships.

In retirement, Ron was an avid bicyclist and rode many trails in both the United States and Canada. His only regret is not finishing the Route 66 trail. In more recent years, Ron stayed incredibly active and enjoyed walking sometimes two to three miles every day.

Services for Ron will take place at a later date in Benton, where he will be laid to rest next to his family.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski is assisting the family with arrangements.
