The Railers hosted Olympia on Saturday night in a
non-conference game and won easily 65-25.
Lincoln was out to a 6-0 lead early in the game with Payton Cook
scoring on the opening possession. Jake Bivin also picked up his
first points in the paint and then it was Trey Schilling on the
steal and layup and in a New York minute the Railers were up 6-0.
Cook and Bivin would soon stretch the lead to 10-0 and the only
thing the Spartans were racking up was turnovers. Easton Nowaskie
would finally get the Spartans on the board with a three. But
Schilling was quick to answer with the Railers first three and the
lead was still in double-digits. Tyler Sasse, Drew Hayes and Cadge
Kingsley also scored in the first quarter and ran the lead up to
18-3 before the Spartans scored again. A three by Zach Keedy made
the score at 18-6 but just before the quarter ended, Aidan Gowin
sank a three for Lincoln and the first quarter score was set at
21-6.
Hayes and Camden Nelson would quickly extend the lead to 26-6 in the
second quarter. After back-to-back buckets by Hayes, the lead was
30-12. The Spartans were relying on the long ball to get them
through the half and with six 3s they were still down 36-18. Each
team added a free throw before halftime to set the score at 37-19.
Olympia had no offensive luck in the third quarter. All the
scoreless Spartans could do was watch Lincoln tally more points. The
third quarter ended uglier for Olympia with Lincoln up 56-19.
A running clock topped off a happy ending for the Railers, who won
by a 65-25 blowout over the Spartans.
Five Lincoln players scored 8 points each: Aidan Gowin, Payton Cook,
Jake Bivin, Drew Hayes and Connor Meagher.
Lincoln improved to 23-5 overall on the season.
The Railers JV team won easily 66-33. Gabe Smith led the Railers
with 16 points. Frank Sanders chipped in 14 points.
