Lincoln Community High School qualified seven
competitors and two alternates.
Cort Pentacost at 113 pounds (alternate), Gio Sundeen wrestled
two matches and battled hard but did not get to advance.
At 133 pounds, freshman Lacon Adams battled hard and lost his
two matches not advancing.
Jacob Lawrence, returning to his second Sectional tournament in
as many years and one match shy in 2021 fought through a tough
bracket ending his season one match shy of the blood round.
At 160 pounds, Sophomore Dawson McConnell had a decent
tournament but fell short of aspirations in the blood round to a
highly ranked wrestler. Senior Nico Sundeen fought in a tough
senior heavy 195-pound weight class to fall short of his goal.
At HWT, Freshman Zach Poole fought hard against a Senior heavy
weight class to also fall short.
Alternates who did not get a chance to compete in the Sectional
Tournament were Sophomore Cort Pentacost and Freshman Caleb
Zirklebach.
Lincoln’s second Senior at 152 pounds, Isaac Decker had a very
challenging weekend. He was not feeling well and was also facing
a tough weight class that some top ranked kids moved to from
other weight classes.
Decker who is a returning 2021 IWCOA State Qualifier gutted out
a tough weekend to take the fourth spot and punch his ticket to
the 2023 IHSA Individual State Final Tournament.
Each weight only allows 16 qualifiers from four different
Sectional Tournaments.
Issac will compete over the course of three days for a chance to
take home a medal.
The IHSA State tournament places only the top six finishers.
Competition starts at 12 noon today, Thursday February 16th,
2023.
Isaac is wrestling at a very high level right now and is excited
to represent the Railer Nation.
Good luck this weekend Isaac.
