[February 17, 2023]  SPRINGFIELD — Larry L. Weyhrich, 74, of Springfield died at 4:20 pm, Monday, February 13, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Peace Lutheran Church

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church

Obituary

Larry L. Weyhrich, 74, of Springfield died at 4:20 pm, Monday, February 13, 2023, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born August 24, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Walter and Ethel (Forsythe) Weyhrich. He married Carol J. Humphrey on September 17, 1983 and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Joelle (Mark) Jones of Auburn and Erica (Chuck) Cummings of Springfield; two grandchildren, Lydia and Raine Cummings; grand dog, Myles and grand cat, Lacey.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

He received his Master’s in Library Science at the U of I in Champaign-Urbana and a Master’s of Political Science at UIS.

He retired from the Illinois State Library in 2012.

Larry loved reading books about history, especially Abe Lincoln. He gave tours of Lincoln’s Home for many years and volunteered at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum for 17 years. He enjoyed farm life growing up and, in his later years loved socializing over a glass of wine. He was a very intelligent and kindhearted man and always put his family before himself.

Visitation: 9 am – 11 am, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Peace Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Peace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Mary E. Zupansic officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.
