Large
numbers of guests shuffled through the line to receive a plate
heaping full of excellent food prepared by Nuthatch Hill BBQ,
including whole hog roasted pork, twice baked mashed potatoes, green
beans and a corn muffin. A large variety of desserts brought in by
4-H members, parents and alumni topped off the meal.
The silent auction items were plentiful and garnering a lot of
attention from guests as items with a wide variety of cash values
attracted bids from a few dollars to several dollars. All the
auction items were donated by local businesses and also there were
baskets and items given to the auction by 4-H clubs and various
friends of 4-H.
Throughout the event recognitions of the various
clubs in Logan County as well as individual 4-H members were
announced on the state at the north end of the ballroom.
Included in the program was a special recognition for
the 2022 4-H Hall of Fame Inductee Patty Huffer. After 29 years of
service to Logan County Extension and Logan County 4-H Huffer
retired from the local office in 2021.

At the many tables with guests seated and enjoying a good meal,
the laughter and joy of getting out and spending time with friends old and new
just added to the value of the day.
In Logan County 4-H is a huge part of youth development and
education. The events held throughout the year including many 4-H meetings,
youth activities, and of course fair, would not all be possible without the
support of the community. Fundraisers such as the one held on Sunday will assist
the local 4-H Foundation in funding projects and special activities for area
youth.
