Mount Pulaski had a 13-8 first quarter lead
with Grace Davis, Alyson Murphy and Alexis Wade sharing the
scoring duties.
By halftime the Lady Toppers were up 23-16 over Cissna Park.
Wade tossed in 10 points in the third quarter and Je’Na
Rentmeister nailed a three for Mount Pulaski to keep the Lady
Toppers on top of Cissna Park. Cissna Park mounted a comeback
however, and the Lady Toppers held onto a slim 36-35 lead when
the quarter ended. Nothing like a nail biter in the postseason.
Mount Pulaski got a combined 15 points in the fourth quarter
from Wade, Murphy and Davis and Hailee Daigh added a basket as
the Lady Toppers escaped with a 53-52 victory.
Alexis Wade led Mount Pulaski with 24 points.
Alyson Murphy contributed 13 points while Grace Davis had 11
points.
Mount Pulaski improved to 26-8 on the season.
Mount Pulaski will play St. Thomas More on Thursday night at
7:00 p.m. in the Class 1A Sectional Championship at Lexington.
