Lincolnwood defeats Hilltoppers 50-39

[January 04, 2023]  Mount Pulaski hosted Lincolnwood Tuesday night and it was the Lancers over the Hilltoppers by a final score of 50-39.

The Lancers were off to a quick start over Mount Pulaski, leading 17-7 at the end of the first quarter. Clay Aylesworth had all of the Hilltoppers first quarter points.

Aylesworth, Gavin Smith and Franklin Wade each made threes in the second quarter to lead the Hilltoppers offense. Mount Pulaski trailed just 28-22 at the half.

The Lancers pulled further away in the third quarter, leading 43-32.

The final score was 50-39.

Clay Aylesworth led Mount Pulaski with 20 points. Franklin Wade came in off the bench to score 12 points for Mount Pulaski.

The Mount Pulaski JV team won a thriller, defeating Lincolnwood 53-44 in overtime. The two teams were tied 44-44 at the end of regulation. Beau Tschantz, Franklin Wade and Daniel McCormick led the Hilltoppers offense to the win in overtime as the Mount Pulaski defense stopped the Lancers from scoring.

Beau Tschantz led the Hilltoppers with 18 points. Franklin Wade had 15 points in the win.

The Hilltoppers fall to 4-11 on the season.

The Lancers improved to 10-6 on the season.

Mount Pulaski will play Friday night against the Hartsburg-Emden Stags in Hartsburg. The JV game will start at 6:00 p.m. and the Varsity game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
