[January 04, 2023]  CHESTNUT - Dennis K. Stoll, 72, of Chestnut, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday December 21, 2022.

Visitation:  4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  12 noon, Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut

Obituary

Dennis K. Stoll, 72, of Chestnut, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday December 21, 2022.

Dennis was born on March 26, 1950, in Decatur, to Hubert and Nancy Jean (Hatcher) Stoll. He first married Corenne Combellack who is the mother to his three daughters. He later married Elaine Gregurich. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Tracy Stoll, Trisha (Matt) Presswood, and Jessica Stoll, all of Mount Pulaski, two stepchildren: Chris (Elizabeth) Gregurich and Jill Gregurich, four grandchildren, Aaron Durchholz, Karson Presswood, Cora Presswood and Charli Cherry, three step-grandchildren: Bella Padgett, Gabe and Alex Gregurich, Siblings: Cheryl (Jim) Poffenbarger of Mount Pulaski, Klista (Raymond) Hegele of Springfield, Brenda (Allyn) Colantino of Springfield, Kenton (Marcia) Stoll of Chestnut, Kerwyn (Karen) Stoll of Mattoon, Deanna (Larry) Pratt, of Cropsy, and Rodney Stoll of Savoy.

Dennis was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut. He served in the United States Navy as a Musician from 1971-1974 and then served in the Army National Guard from 1976-1996 attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a farm manager for 32 years originally with Marine Bank in 1979, and worked as both an auctioneer and real estate broker for a number of years.

Dennis was also a longtime member of the Chestnut Men’s Club, Mount Pulaski Community Band, Atlanta Community Band, and the Chestnut-Beason American Legion Post 848.

In his spare time he enjoyed flying airplanes, playing his trumpet, fishing, bowling, traveling, and you could always find him on a Saturday playing pitch at the Chestnut Men’s Club. Most of all, Dennis loved his family (especially his grandchildren).

Services for Dennis will be at 12 noon, Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut with Rev. David Dunlop officiating. Immediately following the service, the family would like to invite everyone to the Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447 for a time of fellowship. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Private family graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded.
