Friday, January 6th, 2023, at Lucas Chapel Cemetery
in rural Lincoln

Obituary
John E. Brest, 84, of Hamel passed
away on Friday, December 30th, 2022, at his home.
John was born on January 1st, 1938, in Lincoln, the
son of Lyle and Helen (Trail) Brest. He married
Deborah Lewey on October 28, 1978, in Collinsville.
She survives.
John is also survived by his three children:
Kimberly Brest (Troy Northington), Alan Brest (Amy
Werner), Sharon (Rob) Fitzsimmons, a step-daughter:
Terri (Rick) Elrod, 8 grandchildren, and one sister:
Faye Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two
sisters: Shirley Britt and Norma Edwards.
John served his country in the United States Navy
from 1956 to 1960. He was of the Lutheran Faith.
John enjoyed being outdoors where he would go
mushroom hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved
his family and will be deeply missed. |
A graveside service for John will
take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 6th, 2023,
at Lucas Chapel Cemetery in rural Lincoln, with
Pastor Brian Wachendorf officiating. Military Honors
will be accorded by the Lincoln American Legion Post
#263.
Memorial Donations in John’s memory can be made to
the Wounded Warriors & Disabled American Veterans.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln has
been entrusted with the arrangements.
