The Lady Railers were off to a quick start Tuesday
night inside Roy S. Anderson gymnasium versus Champaign Central and
in the end it was a 55-21 victory for Lincoln.
Kloe Froebe poured in 14 first quarter points and
Tori Geriets added a basket as the Lady Railers took a 16-0 lead
after the first eight minutes of play flew by.
Lincoln would lead 18-0 before the Maroons finally
scored a minute into the second quarter. The Maroons managed to
score two quick buckets against Lincoln to make the score 18-4 and
that was followed by another run by the Lady Railers. With 1:28 left
in the quarter, Geriets’ drive to the basket was good and Lincoln
was dominating the game 29-4. A three by the Maroons set the
halftime score at 29-7.
The third quarter lead allowed Lincoln to work on some things,
especially since Froebe was just swarmed by the opponent like bees
on honey. After Mia Clark and Jenna Bowman hit back-to-back threes,
the Lady Railers lead was 37-12. As the quarter was winding down,
Froebe tossed in six more points and Bowman finished with a two to
push the team towards that goal of a running clock. The score at the
end of the third quarter was 45-17.
Ten seconds into the fourth quarter Froebe sank two free throws and
there was that 30-point lead fans have gotten used to. After a nice
baseline drive by Lily Holmes, the Lady Railers were up 51-17 with
just over six minutes left to play. Froebe had a quick steal near
the Lady Railers basket as the game was winding down and she made a
beautiful spin move in the lane for her final two points of the
game. Ceana Adams finished the Lady Railers scoring on two free
throws and that made the final score 55-21.
Kloe Froebe led Lincoln with 26 points. Tori Geriets had another
great game with 11 points.
