Lady Railers defeat Mattoon 77-25

[January 14, 2023] The Lady Railers were on the road Friday night at Mattoon and it was another big win for the Apollo Conference leaders. Lincoln dominated the entire game and won by a final score of 77-25.

Lincoln led 23-2 at the end of the first quarter with Kloe Froebe scoring 12 points early on. Jenna Bowman and Piper Whiteman connected for 3s to help keep the Green Wave at a distance. Tori Geriets added a two-point field goal to complete the first quarter scoring.

By halftime Lincoln was up 41-11. Froebe, Bowman and Whiteman did the bulk of the scoring, but Taryn Stoltzenburg also added a three.

The starters continued to score in the third quarter and this allowed Lincoln to build a 67-20 lead.

In the final quarter, the Lady Railers were led by Mia Clark with two 3s while Makinley Knapp and Grace Schneider each added two points.

Kloe Froebe led all scorers with 31 points. Jenna Bowman tossed in 19 points and it was Piper Whiteman with 10 points for Lincoln.

The Lady Railers improved to 22-0 on the season.

Lincoln is 7-0 in the Apollo Conference.

In the JV game the Lady Railers just got by the Green Wave 42-40.

Lincoln led 15-7 after the first quarter, but the Green Wave tied the game 26-26 at the half.

Lincoln took a 37-31 lead in the third quarter, with Mesa McCloud and Grace Schneider each tossing in four points.

With Makinley Knapp and Mia Clark scoring in the fourth quarter, the Lady Railers were able to hold off the Green Wave and win by a final score of 42-40.

The Lincoln JV team improves to 13-0 on the season.

Lincoln will play Wheaton North on Monday at 2:15 p.m. in the Kipp Hoopsfest Shootout in Lisle.
