On Tuesday night, the Lincoln Community High School
Railer Wrestlers combined an evening of wrestling with a fundraiser
for young Eli Maynard.
Eli is the son of Josh and Erica Maynard and the grandson of Rick
and Carol Charron of Lincoln. He is a third-grade student at
Chester-East Lincoln School, where his mom is also a faculty member.
After an illness resulting in surgery, it was discovered that Eli
had large B-cell Lymphoma, a type of cancer.
The community has been working to help the Maynard
family with emotional and financial support.
At the Tuesday night wrestling match, a large sign stood outside the
entrance to the meet, asking for a voluntary donation as admission.
All the proceeds of those donations went directly to the Maynard
family.
Three ladies who are part of the Wrestling Boosters, Amy Lawrence,
Brandy Bean and Tiffanie Glenn, had worked for several days to
collect items for a raffle event. There were dozens of donations
from local businesses and individuals. Tickets were sold, and
shoppers placed those tickets in the buckets of their choice. Later,
the winners of those baskets would be drawn and announced.

By the night's end, the wrestling event had raised
over $4,000 for the Maynard family and showed how our community
comes together to support those who are hurting.
On Wednesday, Erica Maynard said, "Last night was a
huge success, and we are so extremely grateful for our community!
The LCHS Railer Wrestling program and Wrestling Boosters did an
amazing job organizing this event. We are extremely blessed!"
Also posted on the Railer Wrestling page on social
media was the following comment: "I want to give a huge shoutout to
everyone in the Railer Wrestling community. We came together as a
program and raised over $4,000 tonight to donate to the Maynard
family to help them throughout this time! Thank you to everyone who
put together and supported this night in one way or another!
"Special thanks to Amy Lawrence, Brandy Bean, and Tiffanie Glenn,
who put together the raffles and baskets.
Tonight was bigger than wrestling, and seeing the community come out
to support a great family was tremendous!"

At the end of the article, you will find a link to a gofundme
account for Eli and the Maynard Family. Donations are being accepted
to help the family financially through this trying time. We
encourage all to do what they can, as their hearts lead, to assist
the Maynards in the days ahead.
