Lincoln Land - 78
Parkland - 68
The Lincoln Land Loggers men's basketball team stayed red hot and
ran away from Parkland 78-68 to grab their third straight MWAC win.
The Loggers were coming off an emotional win and looked to keep
their momentum going and Parkland failed to slow down that momentum.
LLCC only trailed on one occasion by 2 points in the first two
minutes of the game. Lincoln Land shot 54% from the floor in the
first half and was the clear controller of tempo and played the
entire first half. Seven Loggers scored in the first half and
Lincoln Land led by as many as 17 before a mini run by the Cobras
brought the game closer, bringing it to 34-22 at the break.
The second half was nearly a mirror of the first. The Loggers built
up a lead, this time a high of 19, but Parkland was able to hang
around and stay a threat. Parkland was unable to get the Logger's
lead under 10 points until under 4:00 to go. The Loggers made enough
plays to never let Parkland closer than 6. Down the stretch Parkland
made a couple threes to keep Lincoln Land on their toes, but LLCC
went 17-19 from the free throw line, many of those in the closing
minutes, to make sure Parkland never got within a possession.

The Loggers got a whole team scoring
effort with 7 players scoring by at least 7 points while four
Loggers got to double digits. Michael Ousley was the finisher yet
again for the Loggers, scoring 8 second half points, many late in
the contest to help seal the game. Ousley ended with a game high of
17. Champaign native Axel Laby had a solid homecoming with 14
points, pulled in a team high 8 boards, and also swatted 4 Cobra
shots. Camren Kincaid added 12 while Moory Woods ended with 11. The
Loggers took care of the ball, tying a season low of 4 turnovers.
The Loggers also won the stat battle, winning nearly every category
except assists.
The Loggers are now 8-10 on the year and 3-1 in the MWAC, moving
them into sole possession of second place in the conference. The
Loggers head to Bloomington to take on Illinois Wesleyan's JV Monday
and then will return home Saturday to take on Danville Area
Community College to battle for first place in the conference.
