[July 01, 2023]   Stephen Ray Block, 52, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Visitation:  Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lincoln Christian Church

Service:  10 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the church

Obituary

Stephen Ray Block, 52, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

Steve was born October 11, 1970, in Normal, the son of Roland and Alice (Barbott) Block. He married Tara Kelly on August 26, 1995, in Bloomington. She survives.

Steve is also survived by his children, Gavin (Tayler Rose) Block, and Lauren Block; mother, Alice Block; and his siblings, Tim (Meryl) Block, Pam (Dan) Brown, and Todd (Amy) Block.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Steve had a passion for sports, especially umpiring baseball at all levels with a specific interest in collegiate baseball. Steve loved spending time with his family and friends. His favorite memories were watching his kids play sports and making friendships with many people along the way. Steve found comfort being outdoors, going for jeep rides, boating on the lake with his family, and “playing golf” with his friends at the Nineteenth Hole.

A memorial service for Steve will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Lincoln Christian Church. Visitation will take place the night prior, Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. also at the church. Burial will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Steve’s name to KCCure Kidney Cancer Research.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
