[July 07, 2023]  On May 11, 2023, the State of Illinois officially announced the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. The Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH) would like to extend its appreciation to the employees who worked long hours and made sacrifices to protect the residents of Logan County from COVID-19 through activities which included planning, mass immunization clinics, testing, contact tracing and consulting.

LCDPH would also like to thank Lincoln Memorial Hospital, the medical community, law enforcement, emergency management, the State Attorney’s Office, and all other partners as their efforts played a critical role to assist public health in protecting Logan County. In addition, LCDPH would also like to thank the community for their support as it took the efforts of everyone to fight the battle!

Even though the pandemic is officially over, COVID-19, unfortunately, will linger as we learn to live with a new virus. LCDPH urges the public, if testing positive for COVID-19, to follow proper procedures for isolation to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Guidelines for isolation can be found on the website for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at www.cdc.gov. For further information, you can also contact LCDPH.

LCDPH has a large supply of free COVID-19 test kits. The public is welcome to stop by to pick up their free kits while supplies last. Once supplies run out, test kits may only be available by purchase.
