[July 19, 2023]
Lincoln Park District (LPD) Aquatic Center
hosted its second Family Fun Day of the summer on Friday, July 14
with a Halloween in July celebration. Parents, grandparents, and
kids enjoyed all three pools as well as Halloween music,
decorations, and a selfie station all day, and a vendor table Trunk
or Treat from noon to 1:30 p.m. |
Admission for the day was an item to donate to Moms
Who Care, a local organization which provides area schools with
essentials like personal hygiene and school supplies to give to any
students in need. Boxes were already filling with donated items
during the lunch hour while kids Trick or Treated before jumping in
the water.
Head Lifeguard and Certification Instructor Elizabeth
Parrott explained that the LPD Family Fun Days are “to get the
community together and also give back to the community.” Head
Lifeguard Cody Adams agreed stating that Family Days are also an
opportunity “to get businesses out here and get them together with
the community.” [to top of second

LPD Pool and Fitness Manager
Jennifer Prather added that these themed family days are meant
to support the community in multiple ways, as a community event
and donation to a charity, but also potentially as a lower cost
admission for larger families. Prather polled LPD Aquatic
Center’s lifeguards for their favorite holidays which led to
last year’s Christmas in July, Christmas scoring as the number
one favorite, and this summer’s Halloween in July as the
lifeguards’ second favorite holiday.
For those who may have missed Halloween Family Day, there is
still one more chance to enjoy a themed family day at the LPD
Aquatic Center. The next Family Fun Day is Circus Day on August
11. Admission will be an item for the Lincoln Logan Food Pantry.
General admission fees and pool passes are also accepted.
