Obituary
David LaVerne Roland was born March
25, 1950, in Kanpur, India, to missionaries William
and Jean Roland. David was raised in India for the
first twelve years of his life as his family
continued their mission.
In 1969, David came to Lincoln to attend Lincoln
Christian College. There he met Glenda Trott, and
they were married in July 1970. They were blessed
with two sons, Boomer (Angie) Roland and Ben (Cara)
Roland. David’s mission was to raise his two boys to
be men of God. His legacy lives on through his sons
and their families who continue to serve and love
Jesus.
Beginning in 1992, David and Glenda were blessed by
three kids coming into their lives who they have
always treated as their own. Andrew (Lael) McCarty,
Ben (Carissa) McCarty and Samantha McCarty.
David’s grandchildren are KJ Roland, Blake (Zoe)
Roland, Lydia Roland, Hattie Roland, and Charlotte
Roland. Later, Ben and Carissa McCarty added Talon
and Tayte McCarty to the list of Grandkids that
David loved dearly. |
David worked a variety of jobs, but
his first mission was to be an example of and for
Christ. He was liked and admired by many of the
people who were blessed to work with him.
He served in several churches over the years and was
known to many as the go-to “fixer-upper”. David had
also served as deacon and elder. We will miss him
dearly, but we also have the joy of knowing he ran
the race well and will live in heaven with Jesus for
eternity.
We will be having a celebration of David’s life and
his witness to Jesus. Join us as we come together at
the Family Life Center in Mt. Pulaski, on Thursday,
July 20, 2023. A Celebration of David’s Life will
begin at 5:30 p.m. with a memorial gathering to
follow, from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
