The summer reading program at Lincoln Public
Library (LPL) kicked off last Thursday, June 8th with an hour of
play. The Foam Zone was set up on the front lawn at the library and
children were encouraged to get wet and sudsy and they wasted no
time accepting the invitation.

The
giant foam blaster filled the air and lawn with white sudsy fluff.
Kids were jumping and running through the bubbles, squealing with
delight. Many children made hats and costumes with the foam, while
others had a bubble fight with their buddies.
The adults who had accompanied the children to the library were
having fun watching, encouraging the play and taking pictures.
Mothers were taking small amounts in their hand or walking their
toddlers to the edge of the foam to see what they thought about this
new experience.
Treats were provided by the United Community Bank and
included donuts, bottled water and fruit drinks. When the fun was
over, kids toweled off and continued to play with their friends or
sit on the sidewalk or library steps drying naturally while enjoying
their snacks.

The library staff from Director
Mike Starasta to the staff of the youth services program enjoyed
watching all the fun.
The fun will continue this Thursday, June 15th at 10 a.m. with
Science with Joe Nitro in the LPL Annex.
