Obituary
Robert “Bob” Detmers, 87, of Emden,
passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Lincoln
Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Bob was born May 14, 1936, in Emden, the son of Harm
and Anna Marie (Trepel) Detmers. He married Betty
Benninger on June 22, 1958, in San Jose, she
preceded him in death on January 12, 1986. Bob later
married Joyce Sloan on June 22, 1990, in Hartsburg.
She preceded him in death on September 8, 2001.
Bob is survived by his sons, Glen (Leslie Schultz)
Detmers, Duane Detmers, and Doug (Samantha) Detmers;
and grandchildren, Brooke, Amy, Deanna, Bill,
Jordan, and Xavier; great-grandchildren, Austin,
Amber, Natalie, Hayden, Brinley, and Brogan; and
sisters, Mary Pope, Anna West, and Alice Lessen; and
brother, William Detmers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first and
second wife; and siblings, Frederick Detmers, and
Janette Kaesebier.

Bob proudly served his country as a
member of the United States Marines. He worked as
head of maintenance at Hartsburg-Emden School
District for over twenty years. During his free
time, Bob enjoyed wood working and making
stained-glass art. He enjoyed antique tractors and
was a member of the Logan County Antique Tractor &
Engine Club. Above all else, Bob loved spending time
with his family.
A memorial gathering for Bob will take place from
Noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial will follow at Hartsburg Union Cemetery where
full military rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made in Bob’s name to the Humane
Society of Logan County or Hartsburg Emden FFA/Ag
Department.
