[June 29, 2023]  EMDEN — Melvin L. Whittaker, 71, of Emden passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in the emergency room.

Service:  Celebration of life, July 9, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dovetail Inn in Emden.

Melvin L. Whittaker, 71, of Emden passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in the emergency room.

He was born April 16, 1952, in Lincoln to Alfred and Mildred Wiebers Whittaker.

Surviving are two great nieces, Alisa and Breanna Whittaker and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Garry Whitaker, and one nephew, Daron Whittaker.

Melvin served in the United States Army National Guard and worked at Caterpillar Inc. for over 30 years.

He attended Crosswalk Fellowship in Delavan and was a member of the American legion Post 506 in Emden and served as Vice Commander for 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting and mushroom hunting. Melvin had a heart for others and was willing to help in any way.

A private graveside service was held at Hartsburg Cemetery with Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan handling the arrangements.

A celebration of life is set for July 9th from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dovetail Inn in Emden. Please join us to say goodbye to a friend who will be missed by many.

Memorials may be made to the Crosswalk Fellowship in Delavan.
