American Legion Auxiliary accepting
applications for six scholarships

The American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois, has
$1,000 scholarships available for graduating High School Seniors or
students already in College. Further information and application
forms may be obtained by contacting Roseann Coers, 17th District
Education Chairman, at 217-737-2534.

Deadline for Department scholarship applications to be submitted to
sponsoring Unit is March 15th.
1. Children and Youth Scholarship: Applicant must be working
towards a degree in Education with emphasis on the subject required
for teaching mentally or physically challenged children; sophomore
or junior in college; class rank in upper half of the class.
2. Illinois Scholarship for Junior Members: Shall be/shall
have been Junior members who are graduating high school seniors;
Junior member, dues paid for the past three years with current 2022
membership card; may be the daughters, granddaughters,
great-granddaughters, sisters of the veteran; may also apply for the
National Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members.
3. Ada Mucklestone Scholarship: Graduating high school
seniors who are children or grandchildren or great-grandchildren of
veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for
membership in The American Legion. Applicant must be a resident of
the State of Illinois or a member in good standing of The American
Legion Family, Department of Illinois.

4. Mildred R. Knoles Scholarship: Students
already in College, may apply annually as long as applicant is a
full-time college student
Deadline for Nurses scholarship applications to be
submitted to sponsoring Unit is April 10th.
5. Past Presidents Parley Nurses Scholarship: Senior in High
School of graduate of accredited High School; full time student;
enrolled in accredited nursing school or hospital program; may apply
annually.
6. Edna Mae Unfer Nurses Scholarship: Applicant must be 30
years of age or older seeking a career in nursing and currently
accepted into an accredited nursing program or enrolled in classes
required for the nursing program. Scholarship is awarded only to
individuals enrolled in an accredited school or hospital program.
