Obituary
J. Lee Hild, 93, of Mt. Pulaski,
passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, in Lincoln.
J. Lee was born October 30, 1929, the son of Ernst
and Irene (Shellhammer) Hild in rural Logan County.
He was a graduate of Pontiac High School. He married
Leora Febus on February 18, 1956, in Paxton. She
survives.
Also surviving are their children: Lou Ann (Tim)
Polk of Mt. Pulaski, Jim (Janis) Hild of Illiopolis,
Susan (Brian) Kalita of Forsyth, Michael Hild of
Sherman, and Beth (Henry) Haupt of Rochester. He is
also survived by eight grandchildren: Angie (Dustin)
Cross, Shonn (Christy) Hild, Jay (Nicole) Hild, Adam
(Madeline) Hild, Aryn (Kevin) Callarman, Ryan
(Haven) Kalita, Kate Haupt, Cora Haupt, and 12
great-grandchildren: Tyler, Beckett, Harper, Josie,
Kyla, Audrey, Calvin, Nyla, Heidi, Bennett, Haddie,
Flynn, and one on the way, and one niece and one
nephew.
J. Lee was a lifelong farmer in Logan
and Sangamon Counties. He was a 72-year member of
the Masonic Lodge, had previously served as Past
Master and was currently serving as treasurer of the
Mt. Pulaski Masonic Lodge #87. He also belonged to
the York Rite Commandery and Chapter. |
He was a master craftsman and
woodworker who could build anything and did so for
his family and many others. He loved to play golf
and was a big fan of Illini basketball and football
as well as the Chicago Bears. He always had time to
talk farming, sports or politics. The most important
thing to J. Lee was his family and he always showed
great interest in anything that his kids and
grandkids were involved with.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his
sister, Marian Taylor.
Memorials can be made to the Mt. Pulaski EMS or the
Mt. Pulaski Masonic Lodge.
Private family services will be held.
Fricke-Calvert Schrader Funeral in Mt. Pulaski has
been entrusted with arrangements.
