Olympia FFA Competes in Section 9 Meats Career Development Event

 

[March 12, 2023]  The Olympia High School FFA Meats Career Development Event (CDE) was on February 28, 2023. After practicing for several weeks, six Olympia FFA members competed at the event in Forrest.

This year’s meat judging team was, Gabe Demling, Shane Demling, Logan Demling, Tarah Hilt, Isabelle Forrest, and McKenna Lally.

Meats judging involves identifying 25 cuts of beef, lamb, and pork. FFA members also evaluate a carcass, ham and loin placing classes. Finally, students complete quality and yield grading of the carcasses.

Isabelle Forrest placed 12th, Shane Demling placed 14th and Logan Demling was 16th individually. The Oly FFA team fijnished fourth overall.
