Lady Railers 2-0 to start the softball season

[March 22, 2023]  The LCHS softball team is already dominating the competition with senior Cara Farnam in the circle and the offense providing plenty of run support. 

 

On Wednesday, March 15th the Lady Railers shutout PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central 11-0.

On Monday, March 20th Lincoln defeated Sacred Heart-Griffin in Springfield 5-0.

In her 2023 Spring debut on the softball diamond, Cara Farnam threw a no-hitter for Lincoln. She tossed five innings and struck out 10 batters. Farnam threw 62 pitches and 52 were strikes. She only faced 16 batters.

Farnam also batted lead-off and was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored. She slugged a home run and a double to help her own cause.

Adi Rumler and Malena Kirgan also had two hits for Lincoln.

Taryn Stoltzenburg, Alex Eads, Kelsey Marten, Faith Eckhardt and Morgan Sheley also recorded hits for Lincoln.

As a team, the Lady Railers pounded out 12 hits.

The Lady Railers scored in every inning of the game and won by the 10-run rule in five innings, 11-0 the final score.

Cara Farnam (2-0) picked up the win on Monday night against the Cyclones. Farnam worked seven innings, allowing three hits and no runs. She struck out 13 batters.

Taryn Stoltzenburg recorded a multi-hit game for Lincoln. She was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Adi Rumler, Alex Eads, Malena Kirgan, Chloe Johnston and Farnam also had hits for Lincoln.

Lincoln scored two runs in the second inning and plated three runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure the 5-0 victory.

Lincoln is scheduled to host Williamsville on Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Schweitzer Field.
