Obituary
Helen Singley, 92, of Lincoln, passed
away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Helen was born on February 9, 1931, on the old
Layman Place east of Lincoln, the daughter of
Charles and Jessie (DeFrates) Sloan. She married
James Singley on July 16, 1949. He preceded her in
death on June 6, 1988.
Helen was the last of her immediate family. She is
survived by a large host of nieces and nephews,
great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and
nephews, who she called her “kids”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James;
siblings, Charles Sloan, Evelyn Logan, Steven “Bud”
Sloan, Robert Sloan, Helena “Sis” Hurley, Margaret
Newberry, Gladys Aper, and Hope Klockenga; and her
parents. |
Helen was a member of Lincoln
Christian Church. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting,
and keeping track and looking after her family.
Services for Helen will be held at 1
p.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Visitation will take place prior to the service from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow the service at
New Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Helen’s
name to The American Cancer Society or The Woods
Garden Villa at The Christian Village.
