Lincoln Baggers host fundraiser for American Cancer Society

[March 27, 2023]    On Saturday afternoon the Lincoln Baggers hosted a bags (aka corn hole) tournament at the American Legion as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The group volunteered to work with the Friends and Family Relay for Life Team by hosting the tournament and donating a large percentage of the entry fee to the Relay Team.

Members of the relay team including Annie Coers and team co-captains Karen Castelein and Nila Smith were on hand selling raffles and 50/50 tickets as a supplement to the fundraiser.

At the end of the day, there were 13 bagger teams that had participated. The baggers donated $240 from their entry fees. In addition the $50/50 sales came to a total of $202 with half ($101) going back to the ACS. The Relay Team also sold mystery bags filled with items donated by local retailers in the Lincoln and Logan County area.

Raffle tickets for a patriotic quilt made by Georgia Green of Sew personal Embroidery in Atlanta were sold with a total of $85 raised. The quilt is an ongoing raffle that will continue until November 11th, when the drawing will be held.

In total, the event raised $576 for the American Cancer Society. The funds go to the Friends & Family Relay Team, and will be transferred in full to the ASC.

As the day came to its close, Lincoln Baggers Mo LeSuer and Brandon Brosamer presented the proceeds of the entry fees to Relay Team member Annie Coers.

The Friends and Family Relay for Life Team would like to send out a special thank you to the Lincoln Baggers, those who signed up for the tournament, those who participated in the extra fundraising events during the day, and those who have provided items for the various sales and activities of the team.

All proceeds go directly to the American Cancer Society for research and local services.

The American Cancer Society is currently seeking volunteers in the Logan County area able to provide rides to treatment for cancer patients. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer you may do so by registering online at the American Cancer Society website https://www.cancer.org/.
