Obituary
Phillip G. Nichols, 79, of Atlanta,
passed away at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in
Normal on March 20, 2023, at 7:22 a.m.
No services are planned. Cremation Rites have been
accorded.
Phillip G. Nichols was born September 5, 1943, in
Lincoln, the son of Fred and Celeste Richards
Nichols.
He is survived by two children: Shelly (Millard)
Davis and Steven (Sally) Nichols; three
grandchildren: Michael Nichols, Nathan Davis and
Kelsey Davis; and three great-grandchildren:
Christopher, Kiersten, and Maverick.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, one
brother, Ricky Nichols and one sister, Donna Willis.
Having grown up in Atlanta, Phil was
a graduate of the Atlanta High School. He worked for
Caterpillar before moving to Idaho where he was a
logger and worked for forest service putting out
forest fires. In Idaho he also owned the Moyie Club
restaurant and bar for several years. |
Phil loved to fish and hunt any
chance he could, but he was most passionate about
his music and for much of his life played in a band
that frequently included members of his family.
Later in his life, he owned a piano store in
Lafayette, Tenn., where he gave guitar lessons and
rebuilt pianos and furniture.
Donations in Phil’s memory may be made to the
Atlanta Rescue Squad or Humane Society of Logan
County.
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home is assisting the family
with arrangements.
